Pennsylvania Ballet - Under the Sun (1976)

Choreographed by Margo Sappington

Conceived as a tribute to Pennsylvania artist Alexander Calder - famed for his kinetic mobile abstract sculptures.

The New York Times review called it, “a jazzy and beautiful looking fairy‐tale about Corolla, a girl who falls from the sun and wanders through a fantasy land.”

The seeds of Michael’s familiar themes can be found in this ballet.
