Thank-you for visiting our website dedicated to the life and career of Michael Kamen.
This site has been created as a home for information about Michael’s music and the experiences he lived. His melodies and orchestrations span multiple disciplines, genres, countries, oceans and continue to touch countless lives of both artists and audiences around the world. We wanted there to be a single place that brings all the themes and players together. A site where we can illustrate how Michael stirred the cultural pot and lent his heart strings to the underscore and sound of 40 years or so of musical history.
Much how Michael conducted it all in his lifetime, we want to celebrate the breadth and range of collaboration and FUN that he had in making his music with people he loved.
Michael believed music is the shared language of human emotion and he used his music to bring people together and to share that immersive connection. He believed that music transcends any perceived differences and links us to our past and each other and that by making music together we can create a more harmonious future.
He began the Mr Holland’s Opus Foundation to provide instruments to children because he believed music is the greatest gift that can be given.
Continuing this theme, we want this site to be a testament to his life and to educate people on who he was as a person and a music maker.
